Since our founding as an orphanage in 1850, Porter-Leath has provided a safe, nurturing home for children. Due to lack of need for orphanages in the US during the 1950s and 1960s, Porter-Leath transitioned to foster care and still provides great homes for at-risk children. Each year, Porter-Leath Foster Care provides homes to over 100 youth in Shelby County.
